Farmer's Markets in San Mateo County

One of the best ways to buy your groceries is through a farmer’s market. These physical retail outlets sell a variety of food items including, fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and even beverages, directly from the farmers. This ensures that the stuff you buy is healthier and nourishing. Farmer’s markets exist throughout San Mateo County and reflect the local economy and culture. Their size varies from several blocks to a few stalls. Here are some of the most popular markets in and around San Mateo:

Belmont Certified Farmers' Market

The Belmont Farmers' Market is known to provide the best of the state’s agricultural bounty straight from the farmers to you. It opens every Sunday at 9 AM to 1 PM, rain or shine. You can find plenty of vegetables, fruits, nuts, greens, freshly baked pastries and breads, scrumptious specialty foods, flowers, and a lot more.

Apart from this, you can also enjoy free live music by the local bands. The market is located at the CalTrain Parking Lot in El Camino Real.

Burlingame Fresh Market Certified Farmers' Market

Located at the corner of Howard Avenue, this fresh market has become a favorite spot for City dwellers. It runs every Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., from April to December and every Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., from May to mid-September. The place features local farmers who sell seasonal produce and flowers. There is also entertainment in the form of musical bands.

Daly City Certified Farmers' Market

Held in Serramonte Center, the market is open on Thursdays and Saturdays at 9AM to 1PM. Fruits and vegetables found here are normally picked only a few hours before the opening of the market, and therefore are fresher than vegetables and fruits found at commercial grocery stores. Fruits are definitely sweeter because they ripen on the trees rather than the truck.

Menlo Park Certified Farmers' Market

The Menlo Park market is held at the corner of Crane and Chestnut. Farmers here offer a variety of locally grown, organic fruits and vegetables, fresh fish, herbs, eggs, a large variety of preserves, mushrooms, honey, nuts, flowers, dried fruit, olives, organic olive oil, plants, and a lot more.

Millbrae Certified Farmers' Market

Held in the City Parking Lot on Broadway, the market is open every Saturday from 8:00 AM till 1:00 PM. Each week, several local shoppers and enthusiasts from surrounding areas come to buy fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, baked goods, plants, and seasonal specialties from the market. On select Saturdays, bands come to the place to play and entertain shoppers.

Travelling to the Markets:

If you’re looking to get to any of these markets, hire a yellow cab. The best part about these cabs is they pick you up from your house and drop you off to the exact place safely. There is no need to wait in long bus queues or waste your time driving, just book a taxi and it will be there on time to pick you up for your outing.
